Setting Up WiFi Minin box

I got WiFi Mini from EE so grandsons can use WiFI while out in car and out of range of home router. Had it for while but did not try activate until now. can't get detected so can use it, been a few months since got it so may have been deactivated Any answers please.

How long's "a while"? If on PAYG, the SIM, not the device, may have been deactivated after about 6 months of non-chargeable use.
