SERVICE NON EXISTENT

Mrturtle

I have been with EE for years using pay as you go. Now where I live I have not been able to get a decent mobile signal for ages. Due to my partners ill health, I haven’t left the house since March last year other than medical appointments to avoid covid, and so being stuck at home have not topped up my pay as you go. Last week whilst at a hospital appointment I noticed I was unable to get a connection to EE even via the EE app. The app acts as though I am non existent and will not accept my old EE phone number. So obviously EE have taken away my number. I then decided to switch providers to one where I could get a signal at home as well as out and about. Problem is I need to obtain a PAC code in order to keep my old number. When I have phoned the numbers provided on the EE website all I get is an automated system that refuses to accept my old phone number and so won’t let me speak to a real live human being about the problem.

I tried using the websites chatbot who also would not let me speak to a human and gave me a telephone number to phone that again wanted my EE phone number and again told me it did not exist.

I even tried another number from EEs website, only to be told that the number they listed on the website does not exist.

After so long you've lost that no.

EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-chargeable use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.

You needed to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.

I’m not sure how legal that is but thanks for the information. I guess I’ll just have to suffer a new number. Wish there was a way to just buy my old number back, as it’s obviously not in use.

It's legal & even recognised by the regulator Ofcom - see Pay-as-you-go mobile: use it or lose it .
