I'm changing to a new phone and contract but staying with EE. I need my PAC for the new sim. How does this work?

Hello @Puliaschi ,

Welcome to the community,

Unfortunately you cannot use the PAC to port your number within EE.

If you are starting a new contract and not upgrading, you will need to port your old number to a different network  and then from the other network get a PAC code to port it back again, but when getting a PAC code to port the number to another network make sure it is a pay as you go and then you can port it back to EE,

If on the other hand you are upgrading, then you would not need to port the number, as you can carry on using the same SIM card.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Hi,

I hope you can help with some instructions for my questions and situation.

I am with EE (my monthly contract has expired last month).

I have now brought a new handset and got a new line monthly contract again with EE (it is not an upgrade, as the deal was better as a new contract). Brought with a third party online retailer. The new handset arrived today.

However I would like to keep my same mobile number on the new contract. When I was buying the new handset, the sales person said this would be possible as outlined below:

By requesting a PAC number from your current network (which I have received yesterday).

Then buying a Pay as you Go SIM card with some data, porting your number you want to keep to the new network. Once this has been done, repeating the process of requesting a PAC code from new network to go back to EE.

My question is: my EE online account shows 2 line contracts currently, one with the old contract and my number I want to keep, and the second with my new contract and a temporary number.

Will the number transferring between EE contracts still be possible as EE can see this is what I'm going?

Second question: With my new handset I received the new EE SIM card with the temporary number - at what point do I use this? By which I mean which SIM card do I actually use first in the new handset? The new EE SIM card it came with or the Pay as you go SIM with the other network?

Third question: Does it matter which network Pay as you Go SIM card I use to do this? What is the easiest?

Last question: When I port my original number back to EE from the temporary new network, what happens to the new temporary number that came with the phone?

Do I keep the Pay as you Go SIM card in the phone after the porting has completed or put the new EE SIM card back in after I have ported my number back to EE?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @Rachemmali.

Welcome to the community.

Firstly, if you were to port one your old number to another network, this would remove it from your My EE Account as it would close your old account.

You will need to use the new SIM in the new phone, you can use this at any point, but it will be on the temporary number until your number transfer is complete.

It doesn't matter what network you go to, as long as it's away from EE.

When you port your number back to EE, the temporary number would be replaced by your old number and would be lost.

I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team to start this process and see if there are any other options.
