Phoned up to cancel, but number transfer has gone through

I paid £15 for a pay and go sim card. I wasn't happy with the with the value for money so I rang up to cancel it within 2 days of receiving it. The agent said that the order was cancelled and I would receive a refund and that I didn't need to return the SIM. Today my number has been transferred from 3 to EE, which I phoned up to cancel, now I have no means of making a phone call, sending a text etc.
