Number has not ported across (well sort of)

I changed my contract a number of weeks ago, and wanted to keep my existing number, which I know would have been easy with a PAC code when you switch from one network to another.  However I went from one contract with EE to another with EE, which I was told would be more difficult but would be sorted.

 

So I can get incoming calls to my old number through my new phone, but I don't get messages, and when I call someone the new number comes up, leading to confusion.  Given I use this for work, it is becoming slightly frustrating.

 

I have tried several times to call and live chat, but currently unable to due to the current situation.

 

Any help or advice most welcome.

@PD11  Have you tried restarting the device as you are advised to do this. 

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

What exactly have you done? I don't mean that rudely, but have you...

 

1: Put your pre-existing SIM in a new phone, in which case the SIM dictates your number.

 

2: Made some change to your account via C/S, in which case you will need to call them to check it over.

 

And are you using an Android device, or Apple iOS?

Lol, starting to wonder what I have done myself.

 

I bought out my previous EE contract as I saw a deal for the S10 plus that I wanted on EE through a third party website, EE could not match this deal so I went with the third party supplier for the phone contract.

 

I contacted EE and asked if I would be able to retain my existing number as this was for work purposes, and now I have 2 numbers with 1 sim.  The previous sim was closed off to PAYG after 31 days, and until that point I had 2 sims, 2 numbers.  The old sim has been taken out, leaving me with the new one with the new number and my old one.

 

So as I said, I can receive calls to my old number but not messages,a nd when I call it is the new number that pops up on the receivers display.

I suspect you might have a call divert set up on one number.

 

You can only have one number per SIM, that's how it works. That you can't receive texts on, shall we say number A, but can receive calls - and number B otherwise works.

 

This would suggest to me that number A has an unconditional divert to number B, and it's number B that's active on your current SIM.
