I regularly travel to the USA and require a dial SIM phone. It's a necessity as the second SIM is used for an AT&T US number.
I have no issue with the e-sim being locked to EE as I don't want to switch providers.
My current iPhone 11 with EE is out of contract and I want to upgrade to a 13 Pro. The killer issue for me is having the SIM locked.
I have heard a number of people say that when they upgraded they got an unlocked handset. Is this the norm?
Is it in any way possible to renew my contract with EE, get a new handset, and keep things as they are with a dual SIM setup?
Thanks

@fromredtogreen There is no guarantee the device will be unlocked.
But purchase it online and you have a 14 day cooling of period so at least you can check
All devices from December will be sold unlocked.
