Hi all, I have a very uncommon issue, I had a mobile broadband contract over 5 years ago, I still have a modem, I need to retrieve a network password. I do not have any paperwork at all, the modem was just in a laptop case for years. I would like to use it now with a EE data only SIM. I cannot send messages from a modem and I do not have another EE device at home. I can log into my old EE account, but there is no help available on the website at all.

I have had a data contract that has ended about 5 years ago, but I am thinking of buying a data only SIM on Amazon that is EE fortunately, valid for 12 months, unless the data ends quicker. So, I cannot remember what passwords or usernames I had at that time... Do I really need that, or the new data SIM will just work there without any log-in efforts?

@callita121 : You don't really need a MyEE account to run a PAYG SIM.

Ok, I goit it, just stick the sim into modem and it will work, however I would like to use the data somehow, don't I need a number code for my phone or a tablet to establish the connection??

@callita121 : Text NUMBER to 150 from it.

But I cannot send a text from the modem and I do not have a EE or unlocked device. Also even if I have an unlocked device I will not be able to send a text with the data only sim...
I need to do it somehow else. this is a netwrok password or something like that...

Why, then, did you originally latch onto a thread all about texts on a mobile router?
Of course you can send texts from it. just login & go to the SMS section.
Texts to 150 are free.

Sorry, is there a part of EE online instructions on how I can log in without a contract and send messages from an Osprey or a Huawei modem that are about 6-7 years old? Is it called a mobile router?
I will only have a data SIM that will be EE SIM. I do not really understand what you are talking about. When I had a contract and modems and there was a network password that you put either in a phone or a laptop or a tablet. That is what I need. May be you know how to do it, but I cannot quite grasp the exact way of how to do it.

Hi @callita121 and welcome to the community,
There's a few possibilities here, so it may help if you could confirm what you're trying to do when this request (I presume it's an on-screen prompt) appears?

Login to your MBB router at http://192.168.1.1 with username/pwd as "admin"/"admin" or with the password found under the battery cover. Then go to the SMS tab.
