Unless I'm wrong but I think direct debit has been set up, I expected that but its being added to my phone plan that doesn't have direct debit, do I need to cancel dd for the xbox or is it tied to the phones dd?

Add to plan products are billed on the same account as your phone, so your direct debit will cover both.
