Is number transfer automatic?

It's been a while since I changed provider so I'm not sure how the number transfer process goes these days?

I signed up for a 24month contract online, gave them the PAC of my old provider and the number I want to keep, all good and done. SIM arrived two days later, I've activated it and it's a different number in Settings > About phone (android 11), I've called it and my phone rings, and all I hear is my voicemail when I try to call my original number. It's also the number showing in MyEE with my 24month plan details.

When does my old number transfer over? Is it already automated and will take time? Because when I try the number transfer process now it errors out and says "Please make sure you enter the right code"

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi @SaltyWagyu.

Welcome to the community 🙂

The number transfer process usually takes up to two working days.

If you go beyond this time frame, I'd recommend giving our Customer Care team a call so they can check your account.

Jon

Is it two working days from activating the sim in the phone? (4pm friday - 18 hours so far) or from when I ordered from EE website? (Wednesday afternoon -  3 days ago)

I will have to get a friend to call support for me to check the number transfer progress as I'm deaf and can't communicate on phone

Thanks

If the line has only just been activated, you may need to call to check if the PAC has been accepted, @SaltyWagyu.

Let us know how you get on.

Jon

Had a friend call on my behalf, but for security reasons customer services wasn't very willing to let us know whether the PAC and number transfer was in their records, just that it will be done by Wednesday at the latest if there's one put through.

So I have to wait until wednesday for something to happen, and if not try to contact them again. He said I need to add my friend as a user to MyEE somewhere in the settings before he will reveal more info, which I'm trying to find right now.

@SaltyWagyu  Number transfers don’t happen over the weekend so depending on when you got this Friday it wasn’t going to happen. (4pm is too late on a Friday for it to happen)

Your number port will start Monday and should be completed within 24 hours.

and you can call customer services from your own phone even with that temporary number that you have right now.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

OK I will wait

And yeah we did call 150 from the sim provided number, they wouldn't say much.
