Ipad Pro 5G

Hi All,

Only a quick one...

Just didn't know if anyone had started receiving any information around the processing &/or shipping of their Ipad Pro 5G pre-orders that they had made yet?

Just for reference and comparison, I have ordered the 12.9 Pro 256GB on 30/4 at 1:21pm (when the website actually loaded showing the 5G's as order-able! 🙂)

Yeah I believe it’s 8/8:30pm, never mind 😅.

Just had a little look on the Apple Store app, also available from my local one tomorrow.. I’m tempted but gonna hold off for a bit.

Mine got updated to "Your order is on track". What does on track means, if it is already late and there is still no confirmation...

@Jaq515  Yeah mine has updated with another ‘On Track’ placeholder, which in itself is a farce 😂. I actually prefer it when they didn’t do those ‘updates’ as it was less insulting than them saying it’s on its way and on-track when they don’t know themselves! Ha.

@Tomavrd I probably should hold out for a day or so, I just can’t abide the poor comms from a comms company, but same old same old. I won’t get shouty about it, I should know better by now! 😅.

@nortonandreev it doesn’t mean anything, you’ll get no tangible information from those ‘updates’ in between ordering and the thing actually being dispatched. It’s just a weekly auto-message to make you feel like things are still moving along I’m afraid. Hate to sound pessimistic, just being realistic. We’ll keep updating here however from our own experiences, as it’s more useful than the drivel from the auto-messages you’ll get until it ships! 🙂

@_Steve-W I agree completely regarding comms companies.  I remember having an experience like this with an Apple Watch launch a few years ago too..

It’s also possible that stock availability talk may be embargoed as part of the vendor agreement, taking it out of EE’s hands to the most part.  

The next straw I am clutching at is a Saturday dispatch!

@Tomavrd fair point around a possible NDA, it’s not unlike Apple after all… but EE are currently one of/if not the only carrier still accepting orders without providing an ETA of any description. Vodafone weren’t accepting new orders as of this morning. O2 were still accepting orders with an eta of 4-6 weeks and I think it was either Sky or 3 that was accepting and quoting August del. on the 12.9 of any variant.

Hey, unfortunately none of this will ever likely get back to EE as the organisation they are, it’s been the same since the launch of the X.

I've spoken again with EE via Twitter DM's and they've confirmed they're out of stock currently and waiting for the next delivery from Apple.

"I have had a look on our stock table to see what information I could find for you and it does look like we're waiting on stock from the supplier"

I'll probs go grab one tomorrow from Apple in Bristol and be done with it, just run it as a SIM-only.

At least they shown a bit of honestly for once.
If they had just said we did state second half of may but appreciate your expecting it on the 21st but is looking like it’ll be 28th before we get stock instead of lying it would've been better.

I obviously can't post the message I sent to them, but all I asked for (very nicely), was the information they currently have available to update me.

I've decided to go the Apple route and just do it as a SIM-only instead, already ordered;
