IP address blocked by abusenet

Hello

I can see from the forums that EE don't provide a Static IP address.

Has anyone else been getting this charming error message?  (From Thunderbird - but my phone also wouldn't send emails either).

Email error.PNG

It says that the IP address 109.249.184.199 is blocked and refers to abuse.net which says that the address is blocked because one of the devices using it has a virus. ("This IP address is infected with, or is NATting for a machine infected with the Conficker malicious botnet.")

The problem went away when I rebooted the router and it presumably picked up another IP address. And our devices are well patched, firewalled and virus protected so I'll assume it's not us.

But is there anything that EE can do to get the IP address unblocked by abuse.net? Or to identify which EE subscriber is causing the problem?

Cheers

Ben

Is this on mobile or fixed Home BB? Which router are you using?

It is not unusual for an IP to be blocked by email servers. It has nowt to do with your kit at home but a previous EE user has been naughty when they had this dynamic public IP. As a result it was caught & blacklisted.

There's not much EE can do but you can try rebooting to get a diff IP, as you have discovered.
