I tried to connect with HomePod mini by using my iPhone today. It keeps showing incompatible to complete the set-up. What should I do? I just bought 4G-EE-Mini-Wifi for HomePod yesterday.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

I do get the same error when trying to connect an AppleTV to a 4GEE Wifi mini 2 and the older Osprey (big size).
No problem when removing the password and opening the network to any connection, which is something you can try and see if it works. I would not recommend doing it, though, in a student accommodation environment.
But at least I got to know that the issue is the wifi authentication.

Hello. Mine is EE-Mini-Wifi-router. The wifi speed is 2.4GHz.
My HomePod is within really closed range when I do the set-up.
My student accommodation wifi is public as it didn't work for HomePod for sure.
This is the only private wifi I have. I couldn't connect my HomePod with EE-Mini-Wifi device.

If your mobile router has 2 WiFi bands, 2.4 & 5 GHz, make the HomePad connect to the 2.4 GHz band.

hello @xose,
it keeps showing;
"Wifi is incompatible
The current wifi network from this iPhone cannot be used to set up your HomePod."
Do you think EE-mini-wifi has a way to solve that problem or not?
EE is also distributing HomePod mini right? If all the customers can't use their HomePod mini with the wifi devices, what you gonna do?
I don't know what to do now 😞

You're right, at the moment it seems that the 4GEE Wifi uses a wifi authentication protocol that is not compatible with some Apple devices, like the HomePod or the AppleTV.
It's happened since Apple OS 13.2 or 13.3 was released and I have not managed to find a way around it unless I open the 4GEE's network, with no WPA or WEP authentication. This is not the best solution, in any case.
Your HomePod is using 14.1 and still no fix, as I can see. Either EE or Apple should update their device's software to make them compatible again but no luck for the moment.

Login to your MBB router at http://192.168.1.1 with username/pwd as "admin"/"admin" or with the password found under the battery cover. Then on the WiFi Settings tab you should be able to change the WiFi to:
Security = WPA2 PSK
if it's not already, as it should be.
