I have just swapped my Samsung S8 to a A52 for the bigger screen etc. My S8 was always visible on my home network so I could communicate with it from my laptop, however the NEW A52 doesnt show on the network so I cannot do some of the functions I used to do with the S8. The S8 had a visibility check box under settings but try as I might I cannot find this on the A52. Has anyone come across this and solved it?

Welcome to the community.
Is it through Bluetooth or personal hotspot that you're trying to connect?

Hi thanks for the answer this is via my BT home Wifi Network. I used to see my S8 Samsung shown as part of the network but not my A52 at present?

Have you searched through your phone for the BT Home WiFi, @Schafersteve?
Once you're able to get connected to it, your device will then show as connected to your home network.
Check out this Samsung article for connecting your Galaxy phone to a WiFi network.

Thanks, @Schafersteve
Are you connecting using the USB cable? If not, could you try that way to see if the phone pops up in file manager? Are you doing this to transfer data from the phone to the laptop and vice versa?
I'm so sorry if I'm misunderstanding.

Hi Christopher thanks for your reply, So I am successfully connected to the home Wifi and I can see that the phone is connected on my BT Hub, I can also connect via a USB cable and can see everything on the phone in the file string as usual and access photos etc, however on just Wifi I cannot see the phone in the file string or access any files, so I suspect that the phone has a setting that stops this over Wifi. For a long time with my old phone I have been using a calender and contacts synch program called Akruto which has always worked very well but the phone just cannot see the Laptop or visa versa to set the synch up as before. As I say I suspect the phone is blocking this somehow?

This can only happen when you have the mobile connected to the PC by USB, not just connected by WiFi to the router. I have a Galaxy S8 & this is the only way I can see it on my PC even when I have Phone Visibility ON (which I've never noticed before).
What do you mean by "network file string"?
