Funny experience with 4GEE router and installation

Got the router. It was ok. Good speeds on upstairs window sill but it developed a fault with the WiFi. Great service from EE, it was replaced the next day. 

again, decent speeds. But I thought I should get the proper install to secure everything. 

Installer came and fitted external antenna. The speeds were poor. 10mbps, compared to 40 plus on window sill. 

So spoke to EE and they arranged for him to come back and point it at a different mast from side of the house. Again speeds were poor, no matter what he did, and all while I pointed my iPhone at the masts on EE and got great speeds. 

The router is now back on the window sill, and giving 50 down and 10 up. 

Weird!

Was the installer able to try a different antenna to see if it was a faulty unit?

He didn’t try that James. Maybe he will when he comes back again. He says I just need to contact EE again
