Exact specifications/capabilities of the 4GEE WiFi Mini

broadbandsavvy

Hi there,

The 4GEE WiFi Mini page states that it can connect to 5G and connect up to 64 devices at once.

https://shop.ee.co.uk/dongles/pay-monthly-mobile-broadband/4gee-wifi-mini-2020/details

It appears that this information has been taken from the 5GEE WiFi page, for example it says "If you live in a slow speed area, our 5GEE WiFi can give you faster speeds over the 5G network."

Information on third party websites states that the device is not 5G compatible and can connect up to 20 devices at once.

Is the information on the listing page correct? If not, is there a page with the correct information somewhere?

Thanks

That page says no such thing. The clue is in its title, "4GEE".

Hi @broadbandsavvy ,

You've correctly observed the URL has information pertaining to completely different hardware in addition to the correct information and I've copied the same bit below from visiting the link.

Vendor-branded devices can often have very sparse information and datasheets and manuals may be very flimsy if they exist at all.

The best hope is that the vendor-branded part is very similar to an OEM product but even then there are gotchas that come up.

Your best bet is to purchase a device with customer testimonials that the device has the functionality you require as sometimes even the documentation is misleading (e.g. claimed IPv6 support that customers say is not present).

Superfast speeds

If you live in a slow speed area, our 5GEE WiFi can give you faster speeds over the 5G network.

That's v. true, but this ain't 5GEE WiFi! Can't some peeps read & put into the correct context?
