Screen severely damaged on arrival and been told by ee to contact lg to claim on warranty?? Surely that is correct!! No offer of replacement tv

Call back and ask them to replace it and if they refuse ask for a manager.
EE is responsible to fix this for you if it came damaged. LG probably won't fix under warranty for damages like drops even if occurred on delivery as Warranty is not what that is for.
