Connecting Smart Devices to Hub/Alexa - 2.4 GHZ or 5 GHZ?

Hello there,
Trying to connect some smart plugs via my EE Smart Hub to Alexa but not getting anywhere.
One of the options in the smart plugs FAQ is to check whether the frequency of the hub is 2.4 GHZ or 5GHZ.
How can I find out the frequency of my Smart Hub?

The EE SH has both bands but uses the same SSID for them so they can't be easily distinguished.
For an EE Smart Hub try separating the wireless channels. On the Advanced / Wireless Settings page of the SH there is a button near the top to Separate the Bands. Turn it ON. Then the 5GHz SSID will appear starting with "5GHz-" & the 2.4 GHz SSID not starting with "5GHz-". Then connect the smart plugs to the 2.4 GHz SSID if it can't do 5GHz.
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

I have tried to follow these steps but am unsure if there has been an update as I don't seem to be able to to assign the name to the 5ghz whilst 2.4 is still online.
I have tried turning 5 off and am still having connection issues for the teckin smart plug which I previously connected to my EE Internet.
Any ideas?

Hi @James_B. I have the EE smart router (white). I used to have the the older EE router but I upgraded my speed and now can't connect to any smart plugs as they only support the 24 ghz.

@James_B that's annoying. Does that mean I need to buy a new router to resolve the issue or would there be an EE router that would support faster speeds and allow this? There must be other people this has effected.

What was the upgrade?
