Yes, you don't need to use your phone to gift data.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

That’s what I thought as I logged into my EE account through WiFi (no phone signal) and gifted data to my sons phone which it acknowledged yet he’s still showing no data.

I contacted EE and they said my phone needs to be connected to EE network with phone signal in order to do it.

Yet my online EE account has let me do the data transfer. 🤷‍♂️

If you login or go on the App, then go to / Family Usage / See Everyone you will see who's got what and what's left Data wise.

Many thanks for your reply.

Just logged in to my EE account and it still shows the data that I gifted to my son and of course it’s reduced my data by that amount but my sons phone hasn’t received it.

EE still saying nothing will happen until I get UK EE network on my phone.

in 2021 I can’t believe that I can’t transfer data via logging into my EE account on a computer and doing it over WiFi. Otherwise why would my account show that the data has been transferred.

Come on EE, you can do better than this.
