Bt answerphone

How do I remove the BT Answerphone service from my landline ? ... i have a built in answer machine which i am happy with and do not want the bt one which keeps recording messages .... very frustrating .

@barbs0007 : Don't! You need both!

 

The 1571 Voicemail service will only pick up unanswered calls which are not 1st picked up by your own answerphone. It should only be recording calls made to you when you are already engaged on phone with a call. In which case your own answerphone is unable to take the call & you would want 1571 to take it.  I have both & it works very well.

 

It works like this when I don't take the incoming call:

  • If I'm out or otherwise can't pick up the phone, my own answerphone takes the call.
  • If I'm already on the phone with another call, 1571 takes the call.

So you see that it's one or the other, not both.

@barbs0007  if it is the 1571 service you mean, then a call to customer services will get it removed for you.

Perhaps you may be better served by asking on the BT Forum about a BT phone problem you appear to be having.
