Brightbox 2 Time Sync Not Working Again

Hutch641

Looks like the bright box 2 router time sync is not working again.

Should be syncing to ntp.madesimpletechnology.com but the date shows as 01 Jan

None of the Time settings are configurable on the router so I'm reliant on either EE using reliable time servers or ntp.madesimpletechnology.com actually working consistently.

This messes the access time schedules that I have set on the router don't work correctly.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

Thanks

Dave

Good stuff, thanks for letting me know, @XRaySpeX 🙂

Chris

Yes working for me as well.

Also the log file dates have corrected themselves @XRaySpeX

Thanks

Hi there, wondering if you could look at the same issue for me?

I just recently plugged in and set up a Bright Box 2 (I know, pretty old hardware still but an upgrade from the old, 'square version' Bright Box 1 I was STILL running, all the same!) and it has upgraded automatically overnight to the following, which I think is still current:

Runtime Code Version
v0.06.00.0001-OT (Tue May 19 15:34:07 2020)

Boot Code Version
0.0.9-OT (Thu Aug 8 18:14:37 2013)

However:

Time settings are still showing the older 'NTP.READYTOCONNECT.CO.UK' server, so my time and system logs remain incorrect; not sure if this might update automatically in due course? So far, I've tried:

- Disabling Automatic Time Server Maintenance, saving, then reenabling it, saving and rebooting.

- Backing up router config > factory reset (after which no change, I checked...) > restoring config.

Any advice?

@MBEE : I also have:

Runtime Code Version v0.06.00.0001-OT (Tue May 19 15:34:07 2020)
Boot Code Version 0.0.9-OT (Thu Aug 8 18:14:37 2013)

but NTP Server = ntp.madesimpletechnology.com

Dunno how to kick it into changing.

Yeah, me neither; thanks for chiming in with your spec all the same, good to know the firmware seems all up to date at least.

Am hoping @Christopher_G might be able to advise further, as seems from the above as if he managed to pull some strings in the background with the relevant EE team?

@Christopher_G , many thanks, as per your PM, I can confirm this now seems fixed.

Time Settings now show server as NTP.MADESIMPLETECHNOLOGY.COM , I have a couple of recent system log entries stating "Time is synced to NTP server", current time and date is correct and as others reported, recent previous log entries have also been updated with the correct time.

Thanks again!

I provided my router serial number (via PM, of course) and seems this allowed a MAGIC FIX to be pushed to it by EE !
