Apple watch 6 cellular not connecting to emails

Hi, I have an Apple Watch series 6 cellular and have purchased the cellular plan from EE on setting up the watch.  I can make calls without being connected to my iPhone but when checking emails it says that there is no connection available.  I have checked the settings via the watch app on my phone and all is set as it should be I think- has anyone else had the same issues please/have any advice?  Thanks

@shrc80  In the watch app go to mail and make sure you have the word ON next to your email account. 

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
Hi, I don't have an ON anywhere- when I click the mail icon in the watch
app is takes me to the next menu where 'mirror my phone' is checked
