I have a iPhone 11 with EE. I’ve just purchased a “good as new” Apple Watch Series 6 for £24 per month on a paired plan.
Whilst on the phone to EE earlier today, the guy mentioned that to use the cellular function on the watch (as I understood it, to use the watch without the phone in close proximity), I would need to purchase an additional data plan for £7/pm.
I’ve had a look on the Apple website and they currently have the same watch, new, with customisable strap for around £17pm.
So my questions are;
1. Will the watch work separately from the phone on the personal paired plan, or do they need to be in close proximity?
2. If I were to cancel the order through EE, buy the watch through Apple, would I need to pay anything extra on my phone plan to use the watch in GPS mode?
Thanks

Hi @Elfy89,
Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂
If you purchased it with a paired plan, you won't need to pay for another plan to use it away from your phone.
If you purchased a watch elsewhere, you would then need to pay for the data plan to use it independently of your phone.

I am trying to get a plan for my watch but the operators at EE don’t seem to understand what I’m talking about. How would I find the plan to buy online please?

Hi @ninjanij174
Welcome to the EE Community.
I hope you're well and having a nice day so far, other than this issue of course.
To do this you'll need to add an additional like for the watch data, and that needs to be done over the phone.
Our advisers do this a lot so I'm not sure why they would be confused. Do you know what department you spoke to?
Thanks
Chris

Hello Chris
thanks for the reply. I have spoken to various departments, upgrades, billing and the technical team and nobody could help me to resolve the issue.

Have you managed to get this sorted as I'm having the same problem.
I have an
iPhone 12 ee contract £75 pm
Apple watch 6 £30 pm
And was told on the phone I needed to buy a separate phone like for my watch to use it away from my phone but with my account I'm unable to purchase a new line ( maybe at credit limit)
All I want to do be pair my current ee plan with my apple watch befor my 14 day return period passes.
Or I'll be sending it back as it was a huge selling point for me as my job dose not allow phones on the premises

Hi,
yes eventually, but it took two hours on the phone with an EE Tech and a series of resetting the watch to factory settings and pairing and unpairing my phone. Had no problems since though.
