Hi all, I have bought a Netgear Nighthawk R4000p router as EE bizarrely don't offer static IP addresses. I am trying to set the Nighthawk up as a router rather than an access point and have managed to get the Nighthawk happy saying it's got an active internet connection but any connected device cannot get connect. I can only assume this is an EE hardware issue as I am unable to set the 5gee router to modem mode. I have tried enabling DMZ on the 5gee box through to the Nighthawk's IP, I have set the Nighthawk to look at the 5gee box's MAC address for the router but neither thing has helped. I'm at a loss now so if anyone has any advice that would be grand.
Alternatively, if anyone knows whether I could buy a third party SIM router and simply replace the 5gee box that would be welcome as well.
Cheers,
Lucy

@lucyeee : Which 5GEE router are you connecting your Netgear to? Why can't you just replace it by the Netgear?
Getting another router will never get you a static public IP on the EE mobile network.

Hi @XRaySpeX thanks for the reply. I've got the only 5gee router they do. As it's wireless broadband I'd need a new router with a SIM connection and they're quite expensive. I'm looking for an internal static IP, not a public one.

I thought you had the Netgear R4000P as well as a 5GEE router.
EE do at least 2 5GEE routers. Post a pic of it.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought the Netgear is a mobile router.
Doesn't the 5GEE router have a DHCP where you can fix/reserve internal IPs.
Yes, you should be able to buy a third party mobile router and simply replace the 5GEE router.
