5GEE EE Mobile Broadband - Airplay Mac

Bit of a random one. Wonder if anyone else has come across this issue. I have a 5GEE mobile broadband modem for my home internet. No issues really. Great singal, great connection.

But recently I've not been able to airplay from my Mac to my brand new samsung TV. The TV flicks to the airplay screen, so it knows there is a device. It pairs, but won't send content. Initially I thought it was the Mac. But I have two running different OS's and I have the exact same issue. The only commonality is that they are on the 5GEE modem.

I can however airplay from a browser window, but just not directly from Quicktime.

Thoughts?

Cheers

David

Greetings @daveedjackson,

With AirPlay and Quicktime, sometimes there can be compatibility issues with file-types. The player used in Quicktime is different from the one on your compatible smart device, essentially, you're sending an encoded file that then needs to be re-encoded by the receiving device over AirPlay, sometimes this process can fail.

While there isn't any particular solution other than to convert your files before sending them to the TV for playback, I suspect this is a mechanism put in place as some sort of DRM verification process.

Your best bet in this instance would be to contact Apple support or Samsung directly about the issue, I wouldn't expect the 5GEE router to be the cause of the issue, especially when other content streams over fine.
