4Gee data sim pay as you go

I am trying to set up pay as you go  as above on a TP-Link 4G router but is this possible? I ordered a mobile sim card  to get going but it wants to confirm account by text which I obviously don't have so I cannot pay to load the data allowance. What should i be ordering?

You connect & login to the router from any device, say a PC, over WiFi to see & send texts. It's quite usual. You don't need any pack or allowance to receive texts & service texts to EE are free.

Nobody puts the SIM in a phone just to receive a text when the router itself can do it.

I should add that I obviously don't want to buy a router which seems to be the only way to get going with mobile broadband

Hi thanks for responding; its an AC 750 4G LTE..? II am probably being really thick but I am not sure how I would see the text (other than loading to a spare mobile) because I am in that Catch 22 where I can't charge up the sim with an initial data pack because I cant register it because it appears to need to be in a phone before I can start?
