I wondered that. Customer Service said that they just didn't expect such a high demand though (EE not Apple). I know they are out of stock pretty much everywhere so again, I know it's not isolated. It's just frustrating, especially considering it was ordered on the day of pre-order. It is what it is though.

The issue is the EE sales agent told me on the 12th, the iPhone would be delivered on the 19th September.  So that is down to EE not Apple. Queue times to get through are a nightmare the level of service I get when I finally speak to someone is really not good. It feels like answers are being made up in agents heads most calls. I finally spoke to someone today who was actually honest with me, and said it was never going to be on lunch day... and its 21 days from launch.. So I was completely misinformed at sale. I haven't needed EE customer service since moving over from O2 and this is the first and honestly probably the last upgrade I'll do via them.

This is Apple deliberately reducing supply to create a fake demand on their new design iPhone....really it is boring and they have done this for years but people still fall for the fake demand. Wait two/three weeks and like magic there is no issue with stock.

Search the forum for the last 10 iPhone releases and you'll find the same threads.

Same here and still no update , guess I’ll be waiting awhile

That 28 days is for customers that order now, not those who ordered on 12th surely. Unless Apple manufacture scarcity to such an extent that they only allocate quarter of a phone for launch day and then 2 million come in bulk a month later.

I think Vodafone and O2 customers are struggling too. I saw some posts on Reddit that their delivery times have changed for 3-4 weeks too.

Hi @mattworcester

Try searching the forums for the last 10 iPhones, same threads same moans, this is an Apple issue.

Thanks

Hiya, I don't think you are understanding my situation, the issue is with EE for 'TELLING" me that the phone would be here yesterday. If it was an honest conversation that it could be 28 days, or I cant confirm that would be fine!

The dates on the website are absolutely for people ordering now. The problem is that EE customer services are also saying this for preorders who placed their orders on the 12th.

iPhone launch stock usually arrives in one burst. EE would have told Apple pre 12/09 how much stock they wanted and Apple would have confirmed how much they could send. EE would then sell back orders until that assumed stock is consumed.

The problem is that Apple rarely send what they promised and the variance between promise and reality varies wildly based on model, colour and memory variants so EE would have fulfilled the back orders on a first come first serve basis and then anyone left over would have to wait for normal stock to start flowing which in this case is 14-28 days later.

the safest assumption is that whatever it says on the website is what we’ll get because if you haven’t been notified that your phone is on the way by DPD by now, they most likely have run out of pre-order stock and you’re condemned to wait until normal stock starts flowing unless Apple has reserve stock they are freeing up

Hi @mattworcester

At the time you ordered it would be expected but if 100 orders are made then Apple says you can only have 50 devices then some people will lose out. It is not the agents fault.

As I say this happens every year.

Thanks
