The dates on the website are absolutely for people ordering now. The problem is that EE customer services are also saying this for preorders who placed their orders on the 12th.
iPhone launch stock usually arrives in one burst. EE would have told Apple pre 12/09 how much stock they wanted and Apple would have confirmed how much they could send. EE would then sell back orders until that assumed stock is consumed.
The problem is that Apple rarely send what they promised and the variance between promise and reality varies wildly based on model, colour and memory variants so EE would have fulfilled the back orders on a first come first serve basis and then anyone left over would have to wait for normal stock to start flowing which in this case is 14-28 days later.
the safest assumption is that whatever it says on the website is what we’ll get because if you haven’t been notified that your phone is on the way by DPD by now, they most likely have run out of pre-order stock and you’re condemned to wait until normal stock starts flowing unless Apple has reserve stock they are freeing up

I think the problem here is not Apple , but EE vastly over promising based on what they’re allotted. I’d have been much better to order from Apple, with a real delivery date next week that’s not just made up.

This is the usual apple struggling with demand but of course it's all EE's fault & as for tbe gaslighting comment, just wow!!
FWIW, someone i know was told the pro maxes literally went to at least 14 days within a few hours of the pre order launch then 21 days + from the saturday

Well to my astonishment - I have an update, white iPhone Pro Max 256gb esim pay monthly new customer ordered at 1:20pm on Friday the 12th
Now of course waiting for any kind of update from DPD.
Is there anyone else in the same situation in terms of tracker status (I'm not saying tracking because this doesn't really constitute as tracking imo)
That has this kind of status but has also been told actual shipping is massively delayed?

Of course Apple is doing their normal bang up job of making sure there is enough stock… that’s not in dispute that they screw this up every year.
but your own comment proves the gaslighting. What you know differs from what EE customer services tell people. As late as yesterday morning I was told directly from someone in EE ops that all pre-orders for all variants would be shipping. By the middle of the day customer services were telling people a mixture of “hang in, it’ll be out today”, “actually there is a delay and it’ll be out by Sunday” to the more likely “21-28 days - sorry but that’s how it is”.
customer services haven’t been told anything concrete to communicate to customers by the sound of it so EE as a whole has been gaslighting people. I mean could just say outright lying but I feel that’s too much effort for EE to go to in all honesty.
It is what it is - now we begin the long semi-expected wait for a very late preorder.

So I ordered the PM 512gb Cosmic Orange on the 12th @ 1.01pm but didn't get the actual ordered confirmed email until Saturday! So will have to wait on that, also ordered the Air 256gb on Friday after that and that came on launch day! Also ordered the Watch ultra 3 on Friday and that also came on launch day! Not to bothered about the PM I can wait, go through the same kinda issues every year so just go with the flow!

How do you all get to contact them in chat? Of course can ring up, but I’ve probably rang up 3-4 times this week, I want to get a clear answer from them about delivery times or at least with order but it’s the generic wait for DPD etc and no update on the tracking part on EE.

Just got off the phone to an EE guide who spoke to her manager and said that my 17 PM Blue 256GB (ordered on the 17th AM) hasn’t been released yet but should be getting delivered over the weekend and that people will most likely receive their phones on Monday. I hope that’s true but it’s hard to tell as everytime i’ve called up, i’ve had a different answer

Not sure if anyone is on Twitter/X but EE have been replying to people of how long the wait was for their phone when they placed the order. So someone ordered PM Deep Blue 256GB 12th September @ 4:20 and they told them wait at that point was within 14 days
