Apple watch Cellular not receiving calls or text after iPhone upgrade?

I have an Apple Watch with its own sim but since I upgraded my phone it doesn't receive its messages or calls unless its in sight of my phone as if it doesn't have its own sim? Do I need to resync?TIA
