Hi all
So I have an EE contract with 2 lines. One on my iPhone and one on my iPad. The iPad one is eSIM. I want to get an EE SIM for my Son and he needs EU roaming. What I'd like to do is transfer my iPad eSIM, which has roaming, to my Son's iPhone (to replace his O2 contract). Then I will buy a non-roaming eSIM for my iPad.
So basically, can I transfer an iPad eSIM to an iPhone? It appears the in-built iOS transfer thing doesn't work between iPad and iPhone, so any other way?
Also, if I can transfer the eSIM, can I get a PAC code from O2 and port his number despite having already previously used the eSIM on my iPad?
Thanks.

You would have to request a SIM replacement, potentially to a physical SIM first and then use the built-in process to replace that as an eSIM through the iPhone settings menu or through the eSIM replacement tool in the EE App.
You could first try going to the EE App to replace the eSIM onto your son's device however. Download the EE App on the device in question, sign in with your online credentials go to the Profile in the top right then Settings > Replace my SIM/eSIM and try doing an eSIM Replacement that way.
Does the existing eSIM in the iPad have a calls and text allowance or is it the Data Only SIM Plan that comes when purchasing an iPad through EE?
To port the number just request the PAC Code from O2, via texting PAC to 65075 from the O2 number, or if there are multiple numbers on the account they usually request that you call them. You can also request it through your online O2 account without calling, although it is quite hidden away.
Then on the EE SIM you text PORT to 150 and this will then ask for the number you wish to transfer and the PAC Code you obtained.
There will be no restriction on porting a number in, no matter how long it has been used for or which device it has been used in.

Wow, thank you so so much for your very thorough and easy to follow post.
The SIM in the iPad was just upgraded to:
SIM R Unlimited 24m £24 R
24 months | Unlimited minutes, texts and data.
So hopefully fine for his phone.
Now I know it can be done, I’ll give it a go at the weekend.

Hi
Quick one… would it be prudent to delete the eSIM from my iPad prior to doing the install onto my Son’s phone?
I assume deleting an eSIM from a device still keeps it available in the EE app for reinstallation?
Thanks.

I would advise not doing that, as you will need to receive a pin number via text to the iPad eSIM in order to do the SIM replacement using the EE App.
Otherwise you would have to contact Customer Services and they will most likely need to send out a physical SIM. If you try the steps laid out previously through the EE App replacement route without doing anything additional, it should all work and save waiting on postage, call queues etc.
The SIM replacement process will automatically disable the eSIM in the iPad when activating in the phone. There's no availability consideration when it comes to SIM replacements, essentially turns off the old one when activating the new one.
Make sure you select the correct number on the EE Home page also before going to Profile, to ensure you don't replace the wrong SIM.
