Data and wifi issues

Kurloz__

My friend is having an issue with data and wifi where it says he's connected to 5g but there's no connection provided so he's unable to access anything needing WiFi or data apart from sending texts, he's tried restarting the phone and doing a full network reset but the problem still persists, it's happened once before on a different phone (iPhone 7) and he is now on an iPhone 15, the last time he had to fully reset the phone however the last backup is years old so this is avoidable if possible

5G ain't WiFi! Which is he trying to use, mobile data or WiFi?

I meant he's supposedly connected to both, yet there is still no actual connection to be found

WiFi is a connection between a mobile device & broadband router, to allow internet-based functions to work.

The mobile network provides voice call, text message & mobile data connections - with the mobile data providing an internet-connection.

Are you saying that your friend is unable to use mobile data whilst using 5G? In which case, can they use it when using 4G? Or does it not work, full stop?

@Kurloz__ , does your friend not have automatic back-up set ? He can. Do this when logged in to his Apple ID via settings.

If he's trying both, then he's got 2 separate issues, 1 with mobile data & the other with WiFi to whichever routers he's trying to access.
