I received my Watch Ultra 3 today and as i suspected only has 4G. Called EE to be told that no watch plans currently support 5G. Spoke to a manager aswell to confirm and its true. At the moment although the watch is 5G compatible we are stuck with 4G for the moment and they have no set plans to change it.
Had a but of rant stating that is doesnt specify anywhere that devices will only receive 4G and he got the hump. I then said if they were selling 5G phones and only provided customers with 4G they would all kick off and naturally you would expect 5G or the plan to at least state its 4G only. He had no reply to that and just kept repeating same crap saying we dont promise 5G anywhere when purchasing. I just figured it was a given. He was happy for me to return it but it’s not the point.
Just be prepared that if your getting device expecting 5G service currently it won’t happen with EE.

Exactly why I believe they're not advertising it on the plans, even if it is supported in those areas. A more comprehensive explanation than "5G" is needed.
I imagine that blurb could have been lifted from material provided by Apple, but definitely should have left it out or expanded on it.
The company themselves didn't provide much more detail than "5G" in most of their material, without going and digging into industry news or the Technical Specs to see that it's 5G RedCap.

@Matt_124 It just needs only “available in 5G stand alone areas otherwise the watch will use 4G”. 5G SA is not available in all areas Even provide a link to 5GSA areas in the FAQ part.
It’s not rocket science to provide the information and if it’s provided then it’s down to the consumer to read and understand what they can expect. At present consumers expect 5G because it just says 5G. Even on EEs own FAQ about the watch it’s just 5G so you expect 5G as it’s advertised as 5G.

Agreed, ignoring the problem is not the same as providing clear information on it.
I have my suspicions that the mention of "5G" could have been lifted directly from Apple's material either without thought, or possibly being contractually required to include the wording due to Apple's "particular-ness" around their branding.

@Matt_124 That wouldn’t surprise me one bit You want to sell Apple you sell at Apple with their rules applied regardless of how misleading that is.

@Yatesy83 Did you just put you get a 10% discount on a watch tariff ? If you did then you are probably the only one as no watch tariff can have discounts applied to it. EE don’t do any discounts on watch tariffs. Discounts are only applied to sim only. Full device contacts, flex pay it’s only on the air time part of the contract and tablets. if you do get a discount it was a mistake and you’re very lucky to have it.

Hope this helps.
’Should’ have it in my area by the end of the year. Annoyingly, the towns that surround where I am all have it 🙄.

I’m in a 5G SA area and only 4G on my Ultra 3.

I think this probably applies. Tbf the ‘Full Works for iPhone’ plan is a good deal if you use those extras…thinks it’s £33pm

I’m on the full works plan with free watch data.
