Galaxy Watch 7 / Ultra (LTE)

Hi all, is anyone successfully using a Watch 7 or Ultra on LTE successfully, and able to make calls from the watch?
(or anyone else having issues?)

I have a Galaxy Watch Ultra, have activated a paired £7/Month eSim for the watch but it does not work properly.

Plan shows as active, Watch shows as connected, and when disconnected from the phone, watch data works - I can browse the internet, update apps, use WhatsApp etc. What doesn't work is Calling - neither incoming or outgoing. If I try to make an outgoing call, it attempts it, then ends the call within 2 seconds before it rings. Incoming calls aren't routed to the watch.

I've called EE, and they have re-applied the eSim and also got me to remove the plan from my watch and put a new one on - nothing has worked, and I think they are a bit stuck!

On the Samsung community there are several other people with the same issue - all on EE, and all with a Watch 7 or Ultra. One person reported dealing with EE 3rd line, and overnight it started working - the kicker being when they spoke to their handler the following day they didn't know what had fixed it!

Definitely, on my Samsung members app I was informed of a software update being available for the watch 7 ultra by a Samsung community member, also just before the update I received a text from EE stating they have now fixed the issue & will be calling me shortly, instead I called them & they told me to update my watch to the latest firmware & ithe LTE stand alone calls will start working. ( I can now make stand alone calls & text - without my phone )

Yes it has been working as it should from the day of the update just spreading the word to other watch users

I'm still a bit confused about how the LTE functionality should work on the
watch I have to say.

Since the recent software update, calls have been working on my watch ultra
without my phone - no problem at all. Same thing on my wife's watch 7. All
good there.

My confusion is with SMS.

Firstly I've noticed there's two SMS inboxes on the watch - one for the
watch and one for the phone.

*Scenario one - Phone on flight mode.*
When I try to use the watch inbox, it doesn't allow it.

When I use the phone's inbox, it tries to send the message but the SMS
fails.

*Scenario 2 - watch Bluetooth off, phone on as normal.*
When I try to use the watch inbox, again it doesn't allow and just gives
the option to switch to phone inbox.

When I use the phone inbox, message is sent and delivered.

Is this the expectation for SMS? Or something still isn't right with SMS on
my watch? Any help would be appreciated. I just need to know so I can
decide on going back to EE or not.

If your phone is turned off the watch should do calls and text with no problem but what I am nothing when I get a text in stand alone there is no notification but the text get sent with no problems

I know right. I'm already having PTSD of the initial call issue - I've been
on the phone with EE twice and Samsung thrice this morning - both just
ping-pong-ing (if there's such a word) me between themselves.

Difficult to say who's fault it is this time or what will resolve it. I've
been told to reset the watch but nor super keen from past experience...not
sure what to do.

Anyone else having/had SMS issues? Resolved?

A backup and reset should help but the notification might not make a sound but the text will come and you should be able to send at least by reading this you know how mine is working I don't know i got a text but if I check it's there and I could send no problem and that is both away from the phone or phone off.

Sadly, a backup and reset didn't resolve it. I'm tired and fed up of chasing EE and Samsung as they don't seem to have a clue and would rather pass the buck. Like the calls part, I think I'd just wait & hope it gets resolved automatically.

I think this would be the last LTE version of a smartwatch I get though. For what it is meant to do and how many times I use the function vs potential hassles like this (granted this is the first time I've ever experienced such), not sure it's worth the hassle.

Not particularly helpful I know.

I got stuck with this too. I finally resolved the issue but it was all done in the wear app.. can't remember exactly what I did though 🤔

Turn the WiFi off on your watch and then it should make calls
