Using Apple TV+ purchased through EE on an Apple TV box or Mac

Morning.

The advice of subscribing to Apple TV+ on the EE app is that you can only use TV+ on Apple devices. Is this just iPhone and IPad with the EE app installed or does it extend to MacBooks or Apple TV boxes? I'd like the option of watching shows on a larger screen than an iPhone or iPad. The same question applies to Apple Music. Are you able to link your EE subscription to your existing Apple ID?

Thank you,

Chris

@Chris0412

I just got off watching Apple TV+ on my LG TV, so I don’t know why it would be restricted to Apple devices if you got it from EE? But my Apple TV+ is subscribed via Apple, so maybe that’s the difference?

I find the differences confusing, but here we have:-

https://www.coolblue.nl/en/advice/difference-between-apple-tv-apple-tv+-and-the-apple-tv-app.html#:~....

Have you got a link to where this advice is given on the EE pages, so I can look it up?

I chased through from an EE link:-

https://ee.co.uk/tv/choose-your-tv-package

to:-

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/tvplus/welcome/web

which doesn’t seem to have any restrictions, though EE do say you need an Apple ID for full functionality.

But as far as I can see, it’s just you buying the same service I have, just via EE rather than direct.

Thanks for this. Really helpful.

On the EE app if you take an offer that is currently available it says "Available for Apple devices only" but doesn't say whether this is limited to devices that are either running the EE app or have an EE sim in it as the method of authentication. No mention of linking it to an existing Apple ID.  I have the AppleTV+ app on our Sony TV but that's running Android so presumably won't be on the list of allowed devices.  If it needs a SIM to authenticate that's my iPhone only. I really wish they'd make these things clear.

We've been considering getting either an AppleTV box or the equivalent from Sky just to make searching for shows across apps easier and being able to take advantage of the EE/Apple offer would save some money.  I might try it for a month to see what the reality is as if it won't work on our MacBook or Mac Mini it probably won't work on the TV box. First world problems! 🙂

@Chris0412   You just sign in to your apple account on that device and it’ll work.    The subscription is linked to your apple account and any product that you use that Apple account on.
