Is there no HDR on the discovery app. The last 3 games on a Saturday I've watched haven't had HDR or is the HDR not available on the app?

Yes I have a capable projector and HDR is always on with he sky games . I used to have it through the BT/EE box and had HDR.

Nope. Same as you. Only when there is HDR content.

How odd. Do you get dolby atmos if you can get it on TNT sport ultimate?

My receiver is showing multi in so no.

But not sure if TNT sports has Atmos, can never remember if it had it or not.

Will have a play around later tho. To be fair I'd take HDR over Atmos for football.

Yeah it has Atmos as I can get it through LG TV discovery+ app but agree would rather have HDR than atmos. Madness that all 3 together (UHD, HDR and atmos) are barely available anywhere only from LG TV that I own anyway. I remember the BT sport app had the same issue but as BT sport wasn't available on LG I had to use the firestick for BT sport app and that had all 3 but TNT ultimate doesn't on firestick. Just don’t understand why so many different variants on different devices, its not as if all the devices are not capable of all 3 together as no issue’s with apps like Netflix.

TNT Sports is indeed a mess.

Apple TV 4K: 4K, no HDR, stereo only

Shield Pro: 4K, no HDR,  Dolby Digital Plus

iPad: AirPlay to Apple TV 4K. No idea what res but juddery. HDR and Atmos!

HDR never listed as an option so can’t test outside wood live games.

Anyone?

For what it is worth, I do get HDR from Apple TV 4K - just double checking now and it is still the case on the replay of the Everton v Liverpool game from last night..

Thank you for that, that's helpful. Because of your comment, I went back again and after much messing around I got HDR on the AppleTV 4K from the replay!  This worked only when I turned off "Match Dynamic Range" in the video settings.

I've no idea what the TNT Sports app is doing differently from every other app I use to stream 4K HDR - as they all work without issue with Match Dynamic Range enabled. And while I was at it I also tried on the Shield Pro and no matter what settings I still could not get HDR.

Do you get Atmos on the replay as it's only stereo for me?

I am just getting stereo on last night's match on the Apple box. I have both match frame rate and match dynamic range on in the settings. My standard format in the settings is 4K SDR 50 Hz, and I find where relevant good apps then change that to what is needed, including Discovery+ to HDR in this instance.

If you don't have match dynamic range on doesn't that affect apps automatically switching between HDR and SDR?

The lack of Atmos [or indeed 5.1] means I watch the game via the EE TV box which does usually have Atmos for the football on TNT Sport Ultimate.

Thanks for confirming stereo only on replays - will have to wait for a live game to see if Atmos works for me. (Not holding my breath).

Tried 4K SDR 50Hz - no difference for me - still only get HDR on the replay if Match Dynamic Range is off. My AppleTV 4K is the 2017 model. Is yours newer? Maybe something has changed?

Yes, Match Dynamic Range should be left on for every other app so I'll only turn it off for TNT Sports Ultimate.

For what it's worth I remembered I had a Chromecast 4th gen in a drawer. Plugged it back in - got 4K, but SDR and stereo. #facepalm

I think the problem here is the Discovery+ app. It's not up to scratch.

Yours is the first generation, mine is the third introduced in 2022. I've only had the latter, so can't say what the changes are.
