Did you mean:

TV must be via Ethernet

After months of looking for help with TV pixelation, approx 30+ calls and 3 engineers at my home I have been advised to connect TV boxes via Ethernet. ( Modem is 3 meters from box! ) Cant believe that we have to run cables around the house for TV signal. Anyone have such experience/advice?

regards,

Jim

Sorry to be clear connect Ethernet cables as the ‘solution ‘ not as a test!

Does anyone know; if EE cannot get live TV to me via wifi can I terminate my contract and try elsewhere? Still cant believe that pulling cables thru out house is the solution 🙈
appreciate any advice

Does it work OK with cables?

Are you able to narrow things down? Is it the link between the router and the TV box, or the TV box to the TV?

Have you had a look at what other WiFi signals could be blasting out your WiFi signal?

Not really given us a lot to go on, but ethernet is always going to be less affected by any interferance.

Did they not suggest powerline adapters as an option so the signal is carried across your mains wiring rather than installing cabling?

BT used to supply a powerline kit in these sorts of situation.

In my experience, the WiFi solution for delivering TV via the EE hub is pretty robust, unless a unit is faulty. Can you just run an ethernet cable across the floor to see if it fixes the issue so at least we know?

You might well run a cable and still find an issue, which could mean faulty kit, interference or even a problem outside the house that only affects the multicast signal used.

Do you have anything else that uses multicast like a SONOS by the way?

LG B6 OLED 55” | LG UP75 LCD 43” | Sky Q | Sky Q Mini | SONOS Beam 2 | EE Apple TV 4K | EE Full Works FTTC

Thank you to all; have serious pixilation issues for almost a year especially in the evening. Had engineers round, installed Powerline adapter's (helped a bit), installed ethernet cables temporarily (improved dramatically but not 100%), replaced allBT hardware (no change), have had many calls with TMC (unfortunately different person each time) and now last person said hardwiring from router to tv boxs only real solution. And we really dont want / believe cables should be run around the house. Eg; router in sitting room is 3 m from tv box 🤷🏻‍♂️
Mustrum, how do you check for ‘other wifi signals’? Strange that it goes much worse in the evenings. We live in a detached house so dont think interference from neighbours.
any advice gladly accepted before deciding next steps. Thanks again folks

What happens if you try something like the Netflix connection test? What speeds does it report

Reading 450Mbps. So within the guaranteed speeds.
