NowTV in Browser

Hi, I currently have EETV with the Big Sport package, which works great on the Apple TV and Mini Box EE provided.

I believe however I should also be able to watch the NowTV channels I have access to in a Web Browser on my PC or via the NowTV app on my other (not provided by EE) Apple TV's.

Can anyone confirm they have been able to do either of these things, NowTV refer me to EE and vice versa, and if so how do I go about it.

Thanks

You should be able to, however the agent mistyped your email address when creating your Now TV account.  Sorry about that.

Email me at tv.apps@ee.co.uk with your account number and confirm the email address you'd like to use to log into Now TV, and I can correct this for you.

Thanks Darren, will do now.

For anyone else who thinks this might have happened to them, go into the Now app on an EETV device, navigate to Settings/Account, and see if the email address shown there is the one you are expecting.

Look carefully, as a typo may be hard to spot.

While getting this fixed, as per @DarrenDev‘s kind offices, this ‘wrong’ email address will get you into Now on any non-EETV device you are trying to use, but you will have to change it later, maybe after the match has finished.

If the email address is wrong then you'd not be able to reset the password on the account, in order to actually log in - unless it happens to be set to an email address that doesn't already exist, and so you can create.

@DarrenDev

I’m a bit lost here, as my transfer went smoothly, using an existing account and password brought over from Now.

But above is a user with a Now account created with a wrong email address, but usable on an EE TV device, and so presumably with a password from somewhere? Which the user needs to know, and may have set as part of setup? And Now know what this wrong email address is, and the password that has been set on it?

So, if this had happened to me, I’d just log on on a non-EETV device with the ‘wrong’ email address that I’d just learned as the User, and the password I knew, as the password, and Now would let me on exactly as if I was coming in from the Now app on an EETV device?

So why would a password reset be involved?

Or is it that I have misunderstood, or not explained myself clearly enough?

The Now TV app logs in automatically on a TV Box connected to a broadband line with EE TV and an associated Now TV account - it doesn't require a username and password.  Also, the Now TV channels from the TV Guide don't use the app at all, and just use the broadband line as authentication.

@DarrenDev

My brain hurts. 😢

So if an agent makes a typo in my sign in, do I see this wrong sign in the Now app on an EETV device - even though the app itself isn’t actually using it? Or do I see something else?

And then if I go and try to sign in on a non-EE device with that sign-in, I will never be able to.

Because EE TV won’t recognise it?

Or because there is no password associated with it, and when Now tries to get me to set one, the process can’t complete because the email address isn’t real?

Or what?

I think you have been trying to tell me the second ‘Because’ applies, or something very like it….

The Now TV account only knows about a single email address - the one the agent typed in.  So yes, the one you see in the app is the one that was typed, and is the only email address that is allowed access to that account.

The account also allows a different type of authentication - instead of using the email address and password, it uses a token that is valid only on the associated broadband line.  This is how the app and channels on the TV Box log in - you can't get access to this token, and it wouldn't work from any other device anyway.

If you try to use a different device, then you need a username and the password associated with it.  You know the username, because you saw it in the app.  You don't know the password, as one hasn't been set yet.  You can't reset the password, as that requires sending an email to the registered email address - which doesn't exist.

💡at last. Thanks.
