Most likely.
If you can live without recording/accessing via the TV Guide then subscribing directly will always be cheaper and more flexible, although you often have to sign up (sometimes paying full price), before cancelling to get the best offer.
But if you already have access to NOW via EE then trying to go direct will just keep circling you back to EE. You would need to open a new account with NOW.

@Japling Yeah - through the NowTV website. Took out a Sports subscription at full price (so first month was more expensive). Immediately cancelled the Sports subscription and was then offered Sports for £20 a month, which I took. Took out a free trail for both cinema and entertainment - which I again immediately cancelled, was offered them at a fiver each. Took out UltraBoost at full price, immediately cancelled that .... and was offered it at £6 a month. So: £20+£5+£5+£6 =£36.00

Hi - I am new to EE TV having been a Sky customer for 19 years and so very late to the party.
Is the summary here that it is impossible to purchase Now TV Ultra Boost if you're contracted to it via EE as it is not an offered option and the only way to get it would be to remove it from your EE package and contract with Now TV directly?

Currently, yes.
So you could keep the “Sport” package for example as that is just TNT Sports and then go direct to NOW, but you would of course lose access via the TV Guide and would need to use a compatible device and version of the app (like an Apple TV 4K).

Thanks - I’ll see how I go when the kit turns up. Now is activated and that’s how I know I can’t get UHD.
It seems there is an assumption this will come someday but not an actual confirmation.
I would assume it’s in everyone’s interest to offer it as it’s additional potential revenue.

It’s slightly more than an assumption in the sense that BT/EE staff have confirmed UHD NOW is coming and the test multicast streams have been seen by eagle eyed customers.
But we don’t know what the required technical changes are for go live or when they will be delivered.

I would just say don’t make the same mistake as I did when buying anything - not just this. Never buy or subscribe based on possibility of something becoming available or you might end up hating the 2 long years wait before you can cancel.

Agree with this. I’m just counting the days until August when my contract is done and I’m gone. It’s clearly not coming, the whole football season is nearly done.

I was lucky or I can say so - they couldn’t downgrade my package because of technical issues and allowed me to cancel early otherwise I would’ve been stucked for many more months.
