I am looking for any advice on the EE TV route I have the broadband being activated this week, however I am wondering what the tv packages are like for example go for the basic £5 tv then add addons through Now TV or is this not possible. I am not sure if EE allow the 4k ultra boost through there tv packages yet so just looking for advice on how to do the tv and best way really as we found sky q we had and all we do is load which ever app we want to watch, very rarely watch live tv so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

@BeckieBDE

With the HD/4K add-on you get access to the HD versions of your subscription channels when viewing on your EE TV box via the box EPG (guide). With your Big Entertainment package that would mean  the Now entertainment and Now  cinema  channels and I believe the Discovery   ( channel 325) in HD.  (The SD versions of those channels  which you can currently access will remain available at their separate existing  channel numbers.)

 For most of their packages EE TV provide the  HD Combi add-on, which gives you Now Boost and the HD/4K add-on for the same price as the HD/4K  addon . The Full Works package includes this in the package price , The  Big Entertainment  package allows you to add this  (combi) HD addon on a rolling 30 day basis typically at  £6/ month.

Now Boost is described at

https://help.nowtv.com/article/what-are-boost-and-ultra-boost

where you will see the benefits of ad  reduction/removal when viewing non-live content on the Now app.

As you have the Big Entertainment package with EETV ,  your NOW membership and any changes/upgrades would be managed via BT/EE rather than directly with NOW.

@BeckieBDE

@zulu17 has covered this very nicely; just to add that EETV offer two sorts of HD add-on, one the Now Boost that gives you HD (UHD on EETV is being worked on, but it isn’t here yet), 5.1 audio, an extra user, plus the removal of ads when you watch Now on demand in its app (doesn’t apply to live, doesn’t stop Now trailers, but at least these don’t come in the middle of things) and the other the one that gives you HD, maybe even UHD, on TNT Sports and Discovery+.

With the Entertainment package, buying one gets you both; with the Sports package, buying one gets you the TNT/Discovery one, and if you later take Entertainment and want HD, you have to buy the Boost separately.

I find this odd and confusing, but that’s how I find EETV anyway 😛

What @zulu17 just taught me is that whereas if you watch Now via the Now app, the Boost kicks in automatically, to watch Now/Sky on the 300-600 channels, you have to actively pick the HD option. From which non-Boost users will be cruelly rebuffed 😢, though I did know that.

Netflix has its own HD tier, and indeed a UHD one as well; these aren’t included in the Boost/HD add-on, and if you want them, you have to subscribe to the applicable Netflix higher tier.

Any other questions, please just ask.
