Netflix no Dolby Atmos Vision Rip off

I have posted on here about this issue and looking at other posts others have same problem. I don't know how EE can push a subscription saying you will get an enhanced experience by PAYING EXTRA when it DOES NOT WORK.

I complained to ee and they said I cannot leave my present package [BB/TV]. It is a complete con. Thankfully I was due to change my mobile to ee next month but won't be bothering now. I am going to make a formal complaint and take this matter further. As other have said, NO ATMOS only 5.1dd NO ATMOS PICTURE only 4k. My tv/Denon amp/and Philips tv/ Panasonic Blu Ray all work with Netflix as it should do. It does do Netflix HDR and that is it, no ATMOS/VISION via ee pro box.

I have cancelled my subscription as it is a pain to have to come out of ee pro box turn off, switch to either tv or blu ray player switch amp over. My Wife can't do all this and why should she. I find it stressful myself. I would rather go without it hence my cancellation. I have kindly been informed I can do nothing until my contract is up in 2026 Happy new year thank you.

And don't get me started on the aerial connection. I have had to stick the cable to the box with Gorilla tape. The fitting is very poor and was constantly losing connection. [new Aeriel / cable]. 18/1/25 11.45pm Blank screen nothing not even any apps. Had to turn off leave power off for several minutes turn back on, all ok. What a performance. And this is now our 3rd box over the past 3 years. 2 x bt pro 1 x ee pro. I can't use the other method of having it all online as pathetically you can only watch one record one. Of no use to me at all. The system is not fit for purpose.

I feel your pain, but this stuff is all well documented, a Google search pulls up threads on here and the BT community talking through these things in detail over many years.

Personally, I just use the box to record and for some live TV and our daily driver is an Apple TV 4K, even the most complete TV solution (Sky) are slowly moving away from satellite delivery and recording. The Q box doesn't support Dolby Vision either.

I think the system is fit for purpose, just not yours. I hope you find a workable and less stressful solution 👍

Hi many thanks. It looks like taking out a subscription for tv package is a waste of money. Next time round I will buy my own box and take out a subscription via Netflix directly along with Amazon prime. Money saved could go towards Apple tv sub'.

I have never had so many issues with a box. I do prefer BT/EE over Sky and yes, I do rate the system somewhat. I think we have had this box a couple of months. Apart from the Aeriel issues there is the constant sound dropouts and blank screen which require a reboot of the system. I think we have had the blank screen about 4 times already. Remote does nothing except turn box off/on. I am going to report to trading standards as ee are asking for money for something they do not provide.

“….our daily driver is an Apple TV 4K…”

Same. Supports up to Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and means full fat is passed to the AVR and TV.

Audio back down from the TV via eARC is Dolby Digital max so we rarely use the TV as a source for serious viewing/listening.

The Pro box hardly gets used these days.

If the kit isn’t working right then that’s a valid complaint. I’m no EE fanboy, but I don’t think they can be accused of misrepresentation bcs they don’t support all HDR flavours.

Our Pro box was one of the original BT 4ks. The basic deal then was a large capacity recorder box with NF SD and Now Entertainment 720p thrown for £6pm. At the time, a no-brainer.

But habits change, and other stuff comes along 🤷🏼

Funnily enough, what we do now value with our TV sub is the little Mini box we have in the kitchen.

PS the Pro box does support Dolby Atmos.

Have you allowed surround sound in the settings?

Yes, surround settings in surround. OK I've calmed down now! Still not happy though. I have just purchased a Manhattan Freesat box as a backup. If I am not here, then my Wife can just press a button and not have to stare at a blank screen next time the ee pro box goes down. Can't record or pause but it will have to do. Not good is it really and ee don't seem to offer an answer to the issues we are having.VIA Blu ray player appVIA Blu ray player app

I have Netflix Premium through EETV, and it’s a bit odd. The plan offers Spatial Audio, but has no mention of Atmos.

When I watch The Adam Project on Netflix (same account) on my LG 48C2 TV, it provides me with Atmos audio.

When I watch it on the Box Pro it provides me with Spatial Audio Instead.

What’s happening here? I think we should be told.

Understood. Yes, for the highest PQ/SQ I use my 4k disc player, and Apple TV with my ATV+ subscription independently of EE.

To be fair, I should have qualified my early statements. NF Premium and Now Ultra aren’t available on the EE TV platform, but then, EE doesn’t say they are. IMO, “enhanced” in a marketing context is meaningless.

But if your kit is defective, complain.

Then ask Netflix.

Netflix spatial audio is available on the Premium plan and enhances sound without the need for surround sound speakers or home theater equipment. It works on all Netflix supported devices.
