From EE TV back to BT TV again!

Just got an email saying my EE TV service is being rebranded back to BT TV again. Feels not that long ago that it went the other way! At least it will match the BT button on the box and remote again. Very strange though!

For now, BT TV and EE TV will remain completely in sync for features.  There's a possibility that they may diverge in future.

Well yes, I thought that in the first place, but they still made customers do it, lol. If the two services are going to go down different development routes, I'd far rather go back to BT TV. I guess I could just leave EE at the end of the contract, send everything EE back, wait a month and then recontract with BT.

@zulu17 BT and EE are still one company under BT Group. There's no transferring of costs required, and the TV product across both brands will be managed/designed/developed by the same team as always.

The packages are aimed to be as simple as possible - there's a base Entertainment or Sport package, a higher level Entertainment Plus or Sport Plus package, or a combination of everything in Full Works.

There was a big gap beneath the previous Entertainment package, where people wanted a more entry-level option.  Rather than add a 3rd Entertainment package, they were both just shifted down a level.  The old Big Entertainment package is still achievable through the use of add-ons.

@--SRB-- no-one should have been forced to switch from BT to EE (unless wanting the Apple TV or 1.6Gbps broadband), however I know some agents were a little over-zealous with their encouragement.

By the time your contract has ended, we should be all on the new ordering system - which should make account management and transfers much simpler.

Thanks Darren, "over zealous" 😂.  I guess we'll see how it all beds down over the next few months!

Hi @DarrenDev

Just general observation  - I've BT Broadband and EETV .After the "change" I presume my EETVBoxPro will "become" BTTVBoxPro,so is that how I ought to refer to it then?

Also,Darren,I've been using the BT Community Website to peruse for General Broadband  observations and this (EE) Community Website for TV Postings of interest. So,will I still be able to use this website or will BT Customers no longer have access to it?On a Personal note I hope you will continue to "flit" between BT and EE with your invaluable help.

Better to just call it a "TV Box Pro" - the insides of the box will be the same, no matter what the brand.

There's no requirement to have a subscription to use either of the forums, so you'll be welcome to continue using either/both.  I'll continue to monitor both.

It does seem to me  strange logic and stranger business sense  for BT Group to  fund and develop an Apple Tv based TV service and not market it nor  offer it to a large number of BT Group broadband customers.

BT Group offers many of the same products 3 times, via Plusnet, BT, and EE (soon to be 4, with the acquisition of TalkTalk).  Plusnet customers don't have any TV service options at all.

None of it makes sense, other than that different brands have different target markets.  I suspect EE will continue to be the place where the newer and shinier products go, whilst BT remains simple (and Plusnet remains even more simple/budget).

I wan't going to mention TalkTalk Tv at this stage but assuming any regulatory issues are resolved then whilst I would have confidence in the management of any technical product  generally it seems that migration and  order systems seem to take far longer to implement effectively..
