Since I have had this new ee box pro have had nothing but issue after issue.

Volume control screwed up

Intermittently recocords scheduled programmes

Reboots itself for no reason

wind back stops working with the latest wind back issue really confusing as I was on one channel watching a programme went to wind back and the display shows current programmes and next programmes on bbc1 . Took a picture as I was so amazed by it

I am now fed up rebooting and resetting this useless bit of kit. Worked for bt for 20 years been customer 40  and never been so disappointed with the service.

All this because of Sport changes.

Don't think I will be renewing when contract ends

It has been recognised that the decision on the TV Box remote control didn't fully deliver the benefits we'd originally hoped.  The plan was to make it simpler for everyone - whilst it made it simpler for most, it made it a lot worse for some. We will do better next time.

The new TV Boxes will accept commands from older remote controls though, so if you still have your old one, you can use it to control the TV Box and TV.  If you don't have it still, we unfortunately don't have stock of them anymore, however some sites are selling them.

Thanks Darren for the reply, but does "do better next time" link with the new "Behind Brilliant things"?

Being honest telling a paying customer BT/EE will do better next time and launching a product with known issues is not really good enough. Would you accept that if it was about your car  I don't think so.

Let's see what Tech support come up with next

The best analogy I can think of related to yours is touchscreen controls in cars - a few years ago, most manufacturers switched to using touch screens to control the AC, stereo volume, etc.  It seemed like a logical thing, and tested well - people liked the idea.  It was only after launch that customers started complaining that it was awkward to use when driving.  The cars weren't recalled - later models just switched back to using buttons and dials.

For the automated pairing, it worked well in our environments, and it tested very well in trials. It was only when it reached a much larger audience that we started finding TVs reporting a different manufacturer than they were (due to shared manufacturing), and manufacturers not being consistent with their codes.

For the TV Box remote, I can picture at least 6 different variations we've had over the years.  They each had their pros and cons. For the current one, the lack of manual TV pairing is a pain, I miss the skip forward/back buttons, and I think the back button is in a stupid place, but I still prefer it for every day use and use it in preference to the other remotes I have.

See your point but when I bought my car I chose buttons. BT/EE did not let me pick what I wanted I was informed I had to change my box to get a service they had contracted to provide. Just to let you know when I contacted them for my ne box pro they wanted me to take a new contract when the current contract had 9 months to run. Not very professional as I advised at the time znd it was tech support who had to raise the request to change the box as the salesman could not do that  change. As BT now claims they are behind brilliant things
