EE TV

Hi, I am a long time Sky Q customer with all my contracts ending in a month or so. I have been thinking about changing to Sky stream but I noticed EE TV has recently launched which looks better value than Sky. I wondered if anyone has moved from Q to Stream or EE TV and is it a better deal and service.

Hi

i previously had glass/stream and found that the user interface and general experience on stream is far superior to that offered by EE

by comparison the EE (you view box) device is slow and a bit clunky moving around the menus etc.

the content is good and with a few exceptions pretty much matches that of Q or stream. But there’s no Disney or YouTube apps available unless you go for the Apple TV option.

cost wise I found it to be slightly cheaper than stream but if the simple sky user experience is important to you then I’d probably be trying to negotiate a new deal with Sky.

its not bad, just not as slick as Sky.

Thank you for your views it is good to hear of your experience with both Sky and EE TV        I think I will give Sky a call soon and see if I can get a deal on Stream. 👍

Hi Jeff

sadly as long term EE Mobile customer we too changed from Sky to EE TV what a fiasco-saw their deal of no up front charge two extra mini boxes no charge and a recordable 1TB 4k box. All replacing our Sky Q 1TB and two Sky Q boxes…. Or so we thought, two mini boxes arrived I rang as cannot email and spoke asking about TV recordable box which had not arrived. Ah yes it’s on its way.  Rang again having to repeat myself and told no nothing showing as being on its way left on hold 20mins andlater told the wrong box had been sent as it has been discontinued and another will be with us in two days.  We then get a text two days later saying out of stock will now take a week to arrive.  We had now no Sky no Freeview as we have no ariel , out came the Monopoly!  After a few days I rang again and had to repeat again my tale and this time on hold again for ages and then told being transferred to start up section and the call was then answered by BT ??? They transferred me back to EE who then I had to repeat again the saga and said that I should try the mini box so we did but no signal kept freezing and buffering rang again and had to go through the tale of woe yet again and this time told need plug in extenders which would be sent these arrived but did not work no Wi-Fi connection either.  So rang again …. See above …. And told this time we probably need the TV Box for them to work - still no TV box - they said on this call we could not have the TV box as well as the two mini boxes so I read out their advert stating two extra boxes for free he stated this meant the TV box and one mini box  which if we kept would be an extra £10 a month!!! I had had enough by now so rang aTv Ariel  installer and had one put up £145 so now watching freeview and told EE we did not wish to take up their Tv offer.   TV Box arrived Thursday and Friday a plastic bag and returns label so we boxed all three items plus the useless plugs back up ready to return.  Today another two bags and two labels arrived one going to Scotland one going to York so another call to EE poor chap got both barrels …. which goes to Scotland which to York do all three go in one bag - the two mini boxes came in one box do we separate or keep together what’s the betting that whatever we do EE will not ‘register’ one two or three items having been returned!! Also our next bill is still showing as charging us for TV package, we have already paid the first months charge and guess what they have added  a £30 connection charge too  …… I simply cannot believe it  …..

Stay with Sky.

Wow! As a long time EE Mobile customer dating back well before EE existed, I was convinced I was going to ditch my overpriced Sky broadband/TV contract and move to EETV... Sounds like I need a rethink  - and a means of beating Sky into a sensible price!

YouTube is coming soon and the home screen has changed for the better with a Google TV like banner across the top highlighting new shows from the main public broadcasters.

Personally,I’d stick with Sky,wish we had. EE TV worked ok to start with, had an extra remote that also worked ok,then didn’t and had to reset it. At the stage now the box isn’t working at all, done a reset, obviously lost all recordings and still doesn’t work. Considering going back to Sky even if it’s more expensive.

Just done sky to EE saving £s. Service has been pretty good and the people, when you get to them, are excellent. I have used it a fair bit since installation last week - mini box failed after 3 days, replaced quickly, 4G back up box can’t get an EE signal, can’t activate Apple+ tv as ‘they have a problem’ the site tells me, and now when I’m calling now to discuss the last two points the automated system only wants to talk about Mobile phones despite having chosen the option for tv et al. So bit of a mixed bag, certainly cheaper but not as comprehensive on the sky sports side but all the main bits are there and getting thru’ to someone is not easy especially when their system doesn’t recognise chosen options. Hope that helps.

I’m also a long term Sky customer, left to save money, EE set up the TV with the wrong email so they had to cancel the TV subscription and re book it, currently day 3 with no TV, been sat on hold for 2.5 hours and still waiting, need to call Sky and pay the extra money
