App owners are responsible for their own updates.  If they require that the set top box software needs to be updated (as is the case with the Now TV UHD content), then they work with YouView to get this done, but then YouView work with BT/EE to get that rolled out across all the relevant hardware.

As for offering Ultra Boost on EE TV accounts - that requires changes to ordering and billing systems.

Sky and EE are working together very closely on this, for reasons that will become clear soon.  There is no intentional withholding of service.

The EE TV service is very mature (and is the same service whether with BT or EE Broadband), but the new ordering systems are still a work in progress.

Bit off topic but Re: BBC EE issue… I recently heard from the BBC that the introduction of changes to recording were made at this point  because EE wasn’t ready before.

The BBC agreed to allow direct recording ‘temporarily’, which allowed for the IP launch. It has taken until now for EE to complete the technical changes with YouView to be able to introduce it.

In short, EE knew that they had to make these changes for at least 2 years, likely longer.

How it was implemented - such as how ‘recordings’ continue to use drive space - is entirely down to EE themselves.

I love Darren’s cryptic updates!

I would like the 4K for Now TV but the way the Apple TV upscales, HD looks impressive anyway.  Plus don’t forget, it won’t come cheap! Could easily add £120 a year onto your bill, maybe more!

Reasonably certain there is only 2 devs and a cat at YouView these days, so 2 years is pretty rapid for them.

Most direct NOW customers are paying £3 - £4 for Ultraboost, so it can be had much cheaper, just not through BT/EE.

I don’t know, I hear that cat is pretty good with a mouse….

I came on here to search for this as I saw it was available and was trying to figure out how to activate it. Hopefully it becomes available soon!

Hi pal

Is it likely this will be available in time for Christmas?

Thanks
