I have recently changed from BT to EE. I now have a black box to control my TV, but the box comes on itself quite often which starts the TV working. I have spoken to EE support and have been given a replacement remote control but I still get the problem.
There is no pattern that I can identify about when this happens. I see other comments on this Forum about what looks to be the same problem so I am not alone.
I do not like the idea of electrical equipment out of control. Potentially this could be a fire risk.
Is there anyone with a full solution to this?

Good afternoon @Ben406 .
Welcome to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to flag this too.
Just to be sure, have you tried any of the steps @DarrenDev recommended here so we can rule out any interference from other devices?

Thanks @Ben406 😊
I'll keep everything crossed here, but please do let us know if you notice anything further and we can take another look.

Well I thought the box had stopped turning itself on, and it had for quite a while. I had not turned it on very much, just using terrestrial TV. I have disabled the automatic power up of the TV when the box is turned on, but I noticed several times over the last few days that the indicating light on the box was showing that it was active without any input from me, which was the original situation.
This is not really a problem but I wonder if as it has a mind of it's own it might decide to overheat and catch fire!
If there is any more information I can provide I will willingly do so.

Hi there @JZW_2025
Thanks for coming back to us.
If the light on the box is active without any input from yourself, please get in touch with our technical support guides. They can get this investigated for you.
Let me know how you get on.
Leanne.

@JZW_2025 No need to worry about it overheating and catching fire - it has protection against anything like that, and will shut itself off if it detects that it's overheating.
You mentioned previously that you'd noticed it only happened when you were using your laptop - is this still the case?
One recommendation from the team - could you please temporarily set the power mode on your TV box to "Always Ready" and see if it still happens? This will prevent the box from going to deep sleep, and just sit in standby instead.

Thanks for the reassurance.
I have seen this when my laptop is not powered on. As I mentioned it has not happened for a long time but now has occured several times over the past few days. I have set the power mode as you recomend but I will have to wait a few days to be sure that the box is behaving itself.

Same problem, no laptop switched on. Happened four times in the last week at different times including just now about 4am. It will be getting unplugged tomorrow.

The irony, as a new forum member I get ‘getting started badge’. Someone has a sense of humour at EE

@BigD4 would you mind putting your TV Box into "Always Ready" power mode for now, just to see if it still happens?
So far, it's only been the 4 people on this thread reporting this issue, so we're still trying to narrow down the cause.
