EE TV Box Pro VS Apple 4K Box

HI

I am soon going to take up EE Broadband with EE TV

I am aware I can choose either the EE TV Box Pro OR the Apple 4K Box. I have watched some YouTube videos on them both to try and give me the best understanding, I am still undecided on which to choose though. Can anybody please help me distuingish the differences?

I know the main difference is that you can record on the EE TV Box Pro but you cannot record on the Apple 4K Box, If I decide recording is not so important to me, what other factors are there?

Which box is the most powerful hardware that will give me best performance switching through apps etc, best viewing / sound quality and least problems etc etc

Please go all out on the differences, pros and cons of both

Thank you

Can anyone please show a picture of the power cable port that plugs into the Apple box please

More specifically, does anyone know if it shares the same cable as either the Sky Stream box or the BT TV box?

I hope for a yes!

It doesn’t match either, it is a figure of 8 plug.

Damn

@DStructUK

Unusually, perhaps, it is a mains plug, 240V AC, as are all figure 8s; the Apple TV doesn’t have an off-board power supply.

What is the issue that you would have with that?

What's the difference in audio capability these days between the two devices? Think EE TV on AppleTV box launched with 2.0 audio only (on all channels, inc the Now ones). Has that been sorted yet? Would completely rule out EE via AppleTv box for me ...

@hooba

I’m not sure on the latest with the EE TV app delivered channels, it was PCM last time I looked,  but the NOW and discovery+ apps will deliver up to Dolby Atmos where available on live streams.

This is why I go on about TV Launcher and going down your own route, you just don’t need EE TV on Apple TV. Build your own EPG with a couple of clicks, organised how you like and it will launch the live stream in the app for you.

No dodgy “security circles” or random codes popping up all over the screen either while you watch.

Surround sound with EE TV on Apple STB has been available for a few weeks now.

I don't have a sound bar but the sound is clear and defined on the EE Apple TV with my RCA Roku TV that supports dolby audio.

Unless my eyesight is getting worse I don't see any random codes when watching channels. There was a small image on the corner of the Now streams but this was made transparent and less noticeable a while ago.

EE Apple TV box, EE mini box, Full Fibre 900, Sky Stream

"Random" codes may appear on sport channels during big matches - this is to help identify pirate streams (the code is unique to your account).  It generally appears towards the edge of the screen, and is partially transparent.

Oh wow, I have been waiting for surround support and didn’t realise it had been released.

It turns out it’s not enabled by default and you need to change the ‘Audio Track’ on a channel you are watching. Thankfully once changed it appears to be the default and applied across other channels.

I wonder how long it would have taken me to find that had I not seen your comment!

Thank you!
