Discovery Plus

Good day to all

I have recieved a email today about some updates to discovery plus and their app. One of the main apps I use on EETV is discovery plus. They have stated that Discovery Plus will no longer work on different models of EETV. This included EETV 4K recordable box which is what I use.

A little disappointed and hope that someone with more knowledge than myself is able to provide any further information.

Thanks

The app on Humax TV Boxes will stop working on September 22nd.

If you have an EE TV subscription then the channels from the TV Guide will continue to work, but you'll lose access to the app.  You can upgrade to the latest EE TV box by taking out a new EE TV contract, or you can continue to use the discovery+ app on other devices.

Sorry but that’s not what the email says.

It says it will stop working on EETV 4k Recordable box. EE did not provide or use any humax boxes to my knowledge.

The email causes confusion because the average user would have no knowledge of the manufacturer.

Thanks

Sorry for the confusion.

The boxes we offer are known as "TV Box Pro", "TV Box Mini", "TV 4K Recordable Box", "TV Recordable Box", and "TV Box".  You can see them listed here:

https://www.bt.com/help/tv/learn-about-tv/bt-tv-boxes

The TV Box Pro and TV Box Mini will continue to be supported - they're manufactured by Sagemcom.

The other boxes are manufactured by Humax, and won't be supported from September 22nd.

Good to find this post as I was wondering same.  I had TNT Sports through BT and basically watched it via TNT Sports on Sky TV however I was told when I moved to EE that would no longer be possible and they sent me a TV Box Pro.  Haven't even set it up yet as I am short of HMDI ports and also because someone told me I could still view TNT via Sky's Discovery Plus app.  So in a nutshell if I do install the TV Box Pro I assume the above means the Pro will still work?  Seems a pain to instal a whole box though just for TNT Sports!

@CAB68 yes, the TV Box Pro will still work.  You should still be able to use the discovery+ app on Sky though.

Many thanks.

So is this refreshed discovery+ platform simply a cloaked version or variant of HBO  max since a WBD Sports Europe media release (18 Aug)  indicated that the HBO max would become the streaming home of TNT Sports  in the early 2026. It seems unlikely if a significant refresh  would occur if the platform is to be replaced in a few months.

HBO Max currently shows live sport in 35 markets in Europe ahead of it launching in new markets including Austria, Germany, Italy and the UK in early 2026 – the latter of which will become the streaming home of TNT Sports.
