BT remotes with voice control

There are several remotes advertised offering voice control for the EE TVpro box. I bought one but it does not work. Spent quite a lot of time with an EE adviser who seemed to find it hard to understand that it did not work. Gave up in the end. Trawing the net I found a post from 2022 in which it said this option was expected in 7months. Hmm. Anyone else got a voice operated remote which works with EE? Oh, please don't get me started on the clunky interface of EETV.

YouView flirted with Alexa for a while.

It did the odd thing OK, but I waited in vain for it ever to turn the box on, which I thought was a basic capability 😢

Sonewhere along the way, further development was quietly dropped.

Unless I didn’t get the memo, it’s strictly verboten on the BT site, and relaxedly verboten on this one.

I have never been convinced it does any harm, though, whereas not being able to give links inconveniences people 😢

@Midnight_Voice  Yes the BT community guidelines say

"Please refrain from posting links to e-commerce websites as well as advertisements for other web sites and services, or other commercial solicitation; chain letters, or pyramid schemes.

If you wish to direct a poster to a specific product that may be of use to them you can post the exact name of the product, it is then up to the recipient of your post to locate that product via a simple web search."

Those guidelines were originally produced in 2014 and last revised in 2019.

@Midnight_Voice @zulu17  Thanks for the confirmation. Maybe I’m just old, and not quite so decrepit as I thought 🫤

@Garethrprice    I can happily say I’m at my half century.   Did I just put happily.  🥲

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

I’ve posted lots of Amazon and eBay links on here over the years and not once have I had a smack on the wrist.

@Chris_B Lets just say I can vaguely remember that age 🙁

@Chris_B

I can’t find a rule against it for EE.

As I am fond of observing, EE and BT are the same company, except when they aren’t 😛
