Personally I still use a desperate device for app viewing and only use the TV Box Pro for live TV and catch up.

Watching a high quality production on the TV Box Pro such as Foundation or Silo on Apple TV+ is fine for casual viewing or those not as fussy about quality as me, but it is nowhere near as immersive as using the version on an Apple TV 4K.

For me, the apps are better than the versions on older boxes but not better than a dedicated streamer.

I've never used an aerial onward connection, only tried the aerial direct, I'm not sure where to start with the picture settings etc, I'm not really bothered as I like using the dtr for navigating channels and recording etc. I'm wondering what TV you'd recommend me getting, I'd probably want a 50inch. I'd be interested to have a look certainly.

I do occasionally get struck by a great TV display like last night with the skiing, and it makes me think I shouldnt be missing out on some higher quality immersive tv.

The Google dongle and now tv stick both require usb to power from the TV but there is only one USB outlet, is it ok to use a simple USB splitter from ebay for around £2? (I know I can use a plug in power adapter but I'd rather not)

@Grimble37

So you have an aerial direct into the TV, and another aerial direct into the T2100?

I hope you are using two separate sockets, and not a splitter.

Around 50”, my choice would be the 48’ LG C series OLED. £999 from Richer Sounds, with a £199 soundbar thrown in.

I probably wouldn’t argue with anyone who suggested looking at a similar Samsung, but I don’t know which one that would be.

Re the USB outlet, no, it’s not OK. Two devices will try to draw too much power, at best not work, at worst burn out the port. And app updates on the Now Stick often request you to use a wallwart anyway,

OK thanks, I'll not use a USB splitter, I've never seen that now prefer the adapter, I just feel uncomfortable with things like that plugged in to the mains constantly.

I don't have an aerial into the back of the TV, I just meant when I've tried it in the past noticed how bad the picture quality is.

I agree that the lack of a STOP button was a mistake.

It's not just if you are recording, but if you have paused live TV and just want to jump back to "real-time". The only ways I can find are to Fast Forward until it's caught up, or to change channel and change back again.
