We want to use the aerial, but no channels are found when we do the scan. We have checked the signal and that's fine, so why is the box not picking up channels?

Ah OK, sorry - I misunderstood your post earlier.
Assuming you've checked the connections at both ends, your best bet would be to arrange for a local aerial installer to check it out. You can book one through EE TV if you'd prefer: https://www.bt.com/help/tv/set-up-bt-tv/aerial

@HampshireE-P If you plug that aerial in to the TV does it then pickup TV channels?

Just plugged it in and done a search. Nothing! The aerial is only 9years old.

There are 2 ports on the back of the TV Box - did you plug it into the correct one? One is for the aerial in, the other is for aerial out, to connect to your TV.
Also, how long does it take to scan for channels? Just a few seconds, or much longer?

We are plugging it into the blue port, the female socket. It takes about 20 to 30 seconds to run the scan.

And that's the same connector that you removed from the back of your TV? i.e. you disconnected from your TV, and plugged it directly into the blue port? Nothing else changed?

We had Sky before, so it was not used for 4 years, as that was when we moved from BT.

You've mentioned that you checked the signal and it was fine - how did you do that?

Using a multimeter, but when we plugged it into the TV it didn't pick up any channels either.
