Hello, i couldnt get through to EE on the phone as it kept just ending so i text them on messenger (verified blue tick), the automated message had a number attached so i phoned that number and got through. (07953 966150), stupidly i did get suspicious but believed it as i had googled EE card check and other people had put on that it was their procedures;  they asked for my long card number to write down on the key pad and then my sec number to log into my account to prove it is me. i then got a notification from monzo saying ‘EE active card check’ so again, believable as it seemed like the actual EE, luckily it was my bank that i had 0.50p in but i did give my sort code and account number for my main bank and then he asked to do a screen sharing session for the T&C’s so again i googled it and it seemed legit, so i did, he then said my broadband would be here on monday and the phone call was then ended, i then was all of a sudden hit with this massive regret as i thought why have i been so stupid, i tried getting intouch with EE via another number and no luck, i froze both my cards and have ordered new cards but i then phoned EE this morning and actually got through on another line and explained. he said we do do active credit card checks when i explained i had gave my card details but he said nothing had been ordered and then ended the phone. i feel so stupid, what i can’t wrap my head around is how have i been scammed when i got the number from EE’s verified page themselves. Anyone else been through the same: the guy on the phone didn’t ask anything about the number etc and just said no it hasn’t been ordered bye so i really don’t think they care, really unsure what to do about broadband now aswell as scared i am going to end up ringing another dodgy number.

Hello @Scammed168374

Welcome to the connunity

Sorry you had that experience, but that number is not one that EE have on their books, have just checked for you.

Well done for freezing your cards and ordering new ones.

If you check my signature, you will find ways to ring customer service and they can then verify and do checks as well as sort you out with whatever you want, by pressing 1 and then 2 and you should get to a human being.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Good afternoon @Scammed168374.
Welcome to the the Community, and thanks for reaching out to us about the experience you had here too.

We don't provide support over messenger and you'll usually get an automated reply if you try to reach out to them, and the number you've mentioned is one that we'd recommend you call on.

Everything you've mentioned so far sounds like the initial order for broadband was genuine, what number was it you called this morning?
